Terms and Conditions
The following is a summary of the Rental Conditions. Please note that all prices are quoted in South African Rand. Rates quoted in our website and / or conditions are subject to change without notice.
Due to circumstances beyond the control of the rental depots, it may be neccessary to substitute motorhome models. The depot will endeavour to give you the same type of motorhome.
Please note that when you pick up your motorhome, you will sign a contract with the rental depot. In the case of accidents and/or disputes, you should contact the depot. We will endeavour to facilitate communications, but your contract is with the depot.
Any alterations to a booking will incur a Euro50 fee!
RENTAL DURATION
Minimum rental is 5 days. If booking for collection or return in Botswana, the minimum is 10 days. When calculating the number of days, the day of collection is counted as day one of the rental regardless of collection time. The day of return is counted as the final day.
DEPOT HOURS FOR PICK-UP & DROP-OFF
Motorhome Rental South Africa has branches in Windhoek, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Maun, Harare and Victoria Falls. Office hours are from Monday to Friday from 08h00 to 16h30. Collections and returns on weekends and public holidays by arrangement only. Sunday collections and returns are subject to a surcharge of R300.
TRANSFER
Airport and local hotel transfers for all branches = R100 per transfer. Windhoek is R200 per transfer.
INSURANCE OPTIONS
Motorhome Rental South Africa offers 4 very competitive insurance options for peace of mind during your holiday:
No Cover
In the event of any damage to either a Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property, the hirer will be liable for the first R75 000. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio. The excess of R75 000 can be paid by cash, traveler's cheques or credit card (a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken and the amount will have to be authorised by the bank). This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property.
Hirer is also responsible for all tyre damage.
To reduce this excess, Motorhome Rental South Africa offers the following options:
Standard Cover
At R110 per day this cover will reduce the excess for any damage to either the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property to R30 000. The excess can be paid by cash, traveler's cheques or credit card (a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken). This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, with no damage incurred to the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property.
Note: hirer is responsible for all tyre damage
Super Cover
Super Cover at R135 per day will reduce this excess for any damage to either the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property to R15 000. This option will also waive the excess for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio.

Exclusive Cover
Exclusive Cover at R220 per day for all vehicles will reduce the excess for any damage to either the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property to Zero. The option of Exclusive Cover will also waive the excess for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio as well as covering all tyre damages.
ACCIDENTS
If the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and is not driveable, a replacement vehicle, if available, may be collected from the closest branch.
- If the hirer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered, then these charges will be for the hirer’s account.
- The hirer is responsible for the recovery of the damaged vehicle to the original rental depot.
- If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no refunds for early termination of the contract will apply.
- No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in which a replacement vehicle is being organised.
- Should the hirer continue with a replacement vehicle then a new rental contract and insurance conditions will apply.
We reserves the right to apply the above conditions as they deem fit.
EXCLUSIONS
The hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property if:
- The terms of the rental contract are breached.
- Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving.
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Driving on restricted roads.
- Water submersion or salt-water damage is caused.
In case of any damage to the Motorhome Rental South Africa vehicle or third party vehicle / property a second excess will be collected to cover the excess for any subsequent damage.
INFRINGEMENTS
Motorhome Rental South Africa reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and / or accidents including third party vehicle / property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle.
EXCHANGE RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All booking charges are in Euro. All credit card transactions at the depot are conducted in South African Rand. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Motorhome Rental South Africa accepts no liability for any variances up or down.
CREDIT CARDS
If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer.
LICENCE
A valid non-endorsed driver's licence is required - international licence is preferred.
MINIMUM AGE
Drivers must be 21 years or older.
MULTIPLE RENTALS
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify the renter for our long-term rate. Motorhome and car rentals in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 3-month period e.g. one 14-day rental plus one 7-day rental qualifies for the 21-day rate.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Vehicles may be taken into South Africa's neighboring states but are not allowed into Angola, Mozambique or Malawi. All insurance cover is void if vehicles enter prohibited areas.
Motorhome Rental South Africa reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, political situations or any other reason.
REPAIRS
Repairs of up to R1 000 may be effected without authorization and will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts. When over R1 000 we need to be contacted for approval.
CHANGE OF VEHICLE
Motorhome Rental South Africa reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle should the requested vehicle not be available due to unforeseen circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund.
DEPOSIT
A deposit of 30% of the total rental amount is due on booking, and the remainder is due 40 days before pickup, and will be charged to your credit card.
CANCELLATION FEES
- If cancelled 40 days before pick-up = No fee
- If cancelled 39 to 11 days before pick-up = 30% of gross rate
- If cancelled 10 days to 0 days (no show) = 100% of gross rate
- Unused rental days = No refund available
CHANGES TO BOOKING
All changes to bookings made after the booking has been confirmed will incur a Euro 50 fee.
TAXES
14% VAT is included in gross rates. Above prices are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.
PETS
No pets are permitted in our vehicles.
